I prefer Philadelphia style ice cream. All this means is that there is no egg in this ice cream. Typically, ice cream starts with an egg custard, but Philadelphia style does not. It completely changes the ice cream, for the better, which is why I prefer it.

You may see salt as an ingredient and think that’s odd…why am I putting salt in my ice cream? It’s actually one of the most common ingredients. The reason for salt is because it allows the ice cream mixture to get colder. The ingredients of ice cream aren’t just water; technically, there is no straight water in ice cream, so the mixture needs to be below 32 degrees for it to freeze. The salt helps that process happen faster.
This particular recipe does call for an ice cream maker, so be sure to have one on hand before you try this. There are ways to make ice cream without an ice cream maker, but this isn’t one of them. I think it is much easier to use an ice cream maker, but you can still make ice cream without one. In addition to the ice cream maker, you will need a few other pieces of equipment. These are typical kitchen tools that you most likely already have in your kitchen. You will need a saucepan, a whisk and a freezer safe air tight container.

The Easiest Ice Cream Recipe Ever
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes
Serves: 6
Ingredients:
- 1 3/4 cups heavy cream
- 1 1/4 cup whole milk
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- Optional: 2 cups of any thing you want to add in, like brownies or cookies.
Additional Equipment:
- Saucepan
- Ice cream maker
- Whisk
- Freezer safe airtight container
Directions:
- Pour 1 cup of heavy cream into saucepan. Put the rest to the side as you will use it soon.
- Add sugar and salt.
- Warm the mixture at medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
- Remove saucepan from heat. Add the rest of the cream, milk and vanilla.
- Stir it all together until well combined.
- Place in refrigerator to chill.
- When ready, remove the mixture from the refrigerator, whisk it again and pour into your ice cream maker.
- Churn mixture according to the directions on the ice cream maker.
- Put mixture into your freezer safe container and place in the freezer.
- Take out when ready to serve.

Additional Information:
You do not have to put the mixture in the refrigerator to chill. You can put it directly into the ice cream maker. Either way is perfect. One just allows you time before you actually churn the ice cream.
